Video will not play or keeps buffering
Updated
Video stalls are usually a short network hiccup, and the player is built to recover from them by itself. Give it a few seconds before doing anything.
Steps
- Wait about ten seconds. The player retries quietly, and most stalls clear without you doing anything.
- If the class still has not started, refresh the page and press play again.
- Check your internet connection. Streaming video is sensitive to a weak signal, so move closer to your router or switch from mobile data to wifi if you can.
- Close other tabs, apps, and downloads that are using the connection.
- Try a different browser, or the same class on another device, to see whether the problem follows you.
- If it still will not play, contact support with the class name, the device and browser you are using, and roughly what time it happened.
Good to know
- The player recovers from the first couple of stalls silently. If it hits a third one in a row it stops guessing and shows you a reload option.
- Video quality adjusts automatically to your connection, so there is no quality setting to change. If the picture looks soft it usually sharpens up once the connection settles.
- A very old browser can cause playback problems. Keeping your browser up to date is worth doing.
- Corporate and school networks sometimes block streaming video. If work wifi will not play a class, try mobile data as a test.
- If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play and are having trouble in that app, tell us which app you are using when you get in touch.
