Workout parties

Updated

A workout party lets you take a class at the same time as other members. The video stays in sync for everyone, and there is a chat panel alongside it.

Steps

  1. Open Parties from the main navigation to see what is coming up.
  2. Select a party to see its details, then join to RSVP. You can leave again from the same page.
  3. To host your own, choose to create a party and pick the class you want.
  4. Set a date and time. It has to be at least five minutes from now.
  5. Give it a name if you like, or leave it blank and it takes the name of the class.
  6. Choose the visibility. Public means anyone can browse and join. Private means only people with your invite link can join.
  7. Set a maximum number of participants, or leave it blank for no limit, then create the party.

Good to know

  • Everyone watches the same point in the class, worked out from the scheduled start time. Because of that, seeking is hidden during a party.
  • If your playback drifts by more than a few seconds it corrects itself automatically.
  • Joining late is fine. You are dropped in at the point everyone else is at, and the page tells you so.
  • Chat is for participants. Messages can be up to 300 characters, and there is a short wait between messages to keep things readable.
  • Reactions pop up on screen for a couple of seconds.
  • The chat panel refreshes on a short cycle, so a small delay before a message appears is normal.
  • You can delete your own messages. The host and moderators can delete any message, and the host can mute a participant for the rest of the party.
  • Chat is kept for 30 days and is not visible once the party has ended.
  • The party page has a countdown, the list of who is coming, and an add to calendar link. Participants are shown by their public display name.
  • Only the host can cancel a party.
